These are OA publishers that exploit the model just for their own profit, accepting low quality and unscientific papers without completing a proper peer review, just to earn the article processing charges. Predatory publishers are a major concern and something that researchers face daily as they are the constant recipients of unwanted spam emails soliciting manuscript submissions and editorial board "service." Predatory publishers are corrupting scholarly publishing and corrupting open-access. All scholars must be aware of them and avoid becoming their victims. Thanks for your summary of my talk, and...Todd
Thanks for your summary of my talk, and particularly for getting it online so quickly. But there's one inaccuracy I would like to correct before it spreads any further.

Most UK research funders are behaving just like those in the US and placing compliance requiremsnts regarding research data on the PI. But there's one exception and it happens to be the largest research council - EPSRC. They are the ones placing requirements on institutions and specifying that data be kept for 10 years after last use.

And that action, by a single funder, has galvanised action at senior level in institutions in a way that other requirements placed on PIs have not.Kevin Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15371869767865369079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7677797369925503856.post-22549722136263409762012-03-29T15:11:16.823+01:002012-03-29T15:11:16.823+01:00Today there has been a very interesting discussion...Today there has been a very interesting discussion on the lis-e-resources list about the use of electronic resource apps in libraries, definitely worth a look.

Some examples of how institutions are flagging the availability of apps in libraries are:
http://www.keele.ac.uk/healthlibrary/mobile/
http://musingsaboutlibrarianship.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/what-are-mobile-friendly-library.html
http://libguides.ncl.ac.uk/mobileRose Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13140972162342285490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7677797369925503856.post-32272282421639854492012-03-27T10:22:15.369+01:002012-03-27T10:22:15.369+01:00Doh!
